An experimental investigation into model-scale installed jet–pylon–wing noise

چکیده

A model-scale experimental investigation of an installed jet–pylon–wing configuration was conducted at the University Southampton, with scope to study effect a pylon has on noise generation and clarify its impact fluctuating wall-pressure load. The set-up consisted two single-stream nozzles, baseline axisymmetric annular nozzle partially blocked nozzle. nozzles were tested first isolated then next NACA4415 aerofoil ‘wing’ single nozzle–wing position. jet Mach number varied between $0.5 \leq M_{{j}} 0.8$ measurements performed both under static in-flight ambient flow conditions up ${M_{{f}} = 0.2}$ . flow-field qualification carried out using single-velocity-component hot-wire anemometer probe. pressure field wing surface investigated miniature transducers that flush-mounted in streamwise spanwise directions within side wing. linear ‘flyover’ microphone array used record radiated far field. unsteady data analysed time frequency domains multi-variate statistics, highlighting far-field reduction provided by presence only case. Furthermore, wake generated behind is seen significantly modify fluctuations, particularly locations close trailing edge.

An Experimental Investigation into the Arching Effect in Fine Sand

In the current paper results of a well instrumented experimental procedure for studying the arching effect in loose and dense sand are presented. The apparatus comprises concentric circular trapdoors with different diameters that can yield downward while stresses and deformations are recorded simultaneously. As the trapdoor starts to yield, the whole soil mass deforms elastically. However, afte...

An Experimental Investigation of Reactive Absorption of Carbon Dioxide into an Aqueous NH3/H2O/NaOH Solution

In this research, the reactive absorption of carbon dioxide in an aqueous solution of NH3, H2O, and NaOH has experimentally been investigated. The experiments were carried out in an absorption pilot plant in different operational conditions. The composition and temperature of both gas and liquid phases were obtained during the column height. The concentration of molecular ...

An Experimental Investigation of Enclosure’s Effect on Noise Reduction in Portable Generators (Technical Note)

The portable generators are the main means of compensating the shortage of national electricity power as in Iraq. However, their noise causes a huge disturbance, uncomforting and loss of concentration of the nearby resident. This problem requires a solution because most shops and residential houses use generators. Covering method is a simple and relatively low cost one for reduction of generato...
